Network Types

    Network are three types:

  • LAN  ( Local Area Network )
  • MAN ( Metropolitan Area Network )
  • WAN ( Wide Area Network )

LAN  - It is also called a small area network one building to other building. In that type of network used in small area like building, small campus etc. In this network directly connected with help of cables and nodes or hubs.
Local area network is a self-contained network that spans a small area, such as a single building-floor or room.In a lan,all nodes and segments are directly connected with cables and short range wireless or short-range wireless technologies.

Lan Administrator, are specifically charged with managing and maintaining the local area network. He has the responsibilities not only of maintaining the macchines but also of network software. He might also perform installation and deployment, upgrades, troubleshooting for apps,Lan administrator are typically versatile and adaptable with a broad range of skills and knowledge

MAN - It is large area network from the local area network  Its range is about 5 to 10 km. or city to city.
Metropolitain area network, which covers an area equivalent to a city or other municipility. It is also called a campus area network that covers an area equivalent to acdemic campus or business park.In MAN,numbers of Local Area Network are connected.

WAN -

Wide area network

A wide area network (WAN) is a computer network that covers a large geographic area such as a city, country, or spans even intercontinental distances, using a communications channel that combines many types of media such as telephone lines, cables, and air waves. A WAN often uses transmission facilities provided by common carriers, such as telephone companies. WAN technologies generally function at the lower three layers of the OSI reference model: the physical layer, the data link layer, and the network layer.
